Minimum Requirements

  • Matric or equivalent with mathematics and physical science on higher grade (Grade E) or standard grade (D symbol).
  • National Lamps man certificate.
  • At least 2 years’ experience as a Lamproom of which at least 1 year in a supervisory role
  • Basic understanding of Lamproom equipment and tools
  • Computer literate (Microsoft package).
  • Medically fit

              Job Purpose

              To assist in providing quality services and safe operation of lamproom equipment and tools for health, safety, and productivity in the mining sector.

              Responsibilities

              Technical:

              • Performs day to day activities in accordance with the prescribed DMR guidelines and as stipulated but not limited to the mine code of practice.
              • Provides legal and competent services.
              • Provide trusted communication between the lamp room and all relevant stake holders.
              • All legal documentation should be completed revised and scrutinized before filing and or distribution occurs.
              • Oversee and comply with daily administrative tasks.
              • Resolves all customer complaints and grievances in a timely and professional manner.
              • Controls and coordinates lamp room operators in their daily tasks.
              • Maintain and monitor lamp room equipment.
              • Monitors failures and repairs of lamp room equipment and reports deviations to the relevant technician for repairs.
              • Ensure effective key control during shift.
              • Maintains through and up-to-date knowledge of internal and external procedures, schedules and directives pertinent to the Control Room, and attends in-service, mandatory, basic, advance and/or specialized training to maintain current and proficiency or learn new job-related information and skills.
              • Maintain housekeeping in area of responsibility.
              • Liaise with supervisor and customers on the site to assist in ensuring quality and safety of work and that contractual obligations are met.
              • Liaise with visitors, clients, staff and others to assist with general enquiries.
              • Provide administrative support, including typing, filing, data capturing / input, maintenance, and documentation and management of information.

              Support:

              • Keep supervisor updated of all unresolved and/or potential problems that would negatively affect the customer or our company.
              • Feedback on a regular basis to Supervisor.
              • Participate as appropriate in quality programs implemented across the company.
              • Proactively identify and implement innovative solutions to identified needs to enhance the operational effectiveness of the Lamp room function.
              • Creates a development programme to train and develop operators, administrators and junior Lampsman.

              Health and safety:
